I use to run an events company and hire out equipment for weddings and parties. I have a beautiful sweet cart which we decided to use. Because it was going to be full of sweet things we decided against a cake and this was the sweet treat. I felt honoured to do my sons party and put a lot of time and effort, using my best Event manager skills to the test and made it the party he dreamed it to be. I would love to share my ideas and results with you in hope that another child can enjoy a party like this.
Hire out a good hall, choose a party package where food and entertainment is incorporated......it saves soooo much time. You can then focus on the details.
This is the minecraft sweet cart display. I will explain the ideas we came up with but feel free to show your initiative and come up with your own ideas.
Creeper Juice. I used green fruit shoot style bottles, apple flavour. Any bottle that's green will work. I then designed and printed off labels just on plain A4 paper and stuck them on using tape.
Red Lava. Small plastic pots with lids, filled with red jelly makes perfect lava pots.
Dirt Grass. Rice crispie square cut into squares and dressed with green icing. Make sure you don't make the icing too runny like I did. But it was still tasty.
TNT. Now this one was a little more time consuming to make but was fun. I used cola laces, the stiff thicker kind as the fuse in the middle and red pencils as the surround. Again designed the TNT label on the computer and printed it off on A4 paper, cut it up and stuck it round with tape. The children loved putting these in their party bags to take home.
Gold. I used ready made Gold bars from the supermarket.
Sticks. Crisp sticks also bought from the super market. It's so much easier to find products already made than to start creating your own. be inventive and look around your local super market.
Personalised chocolate bars. I use animal bars for these and designed their names and characters on the computer. Printed them off on A4 paper, cut them out and stuck them on with tape. They look quite effective and added that personalised touch for the children to enjoy.
As a party favour the children could take home we did sweet cones with millions in the bottom to fill up the small end and fried eggs as the bulk of the cone. Fried eggs are my sons
favourite and also eggs are found in minecraft.
Watermelon. These were watermelon flavoured spiral lollies I ordered off the internet.
Add minecraft decorations for a more realistic effect. I had minecraft backdrops and small figures already available from home to add to the sweet cart. If you do not have any then I'm sure it would look just as good to print off characters, blocks and animals to stick around.
I made a HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner to go along the top, A few balloons and a couple of creeper print outs to fill in the gaps. A blue plastic table cloth to represent the sea and some helium balloons to scatter round the place finished off the decorations. The centre I had hired out did all the table decorations, party food and party games. All we bought was the sweet cart and a CD to play some music. It was a very enjoyable stress free party. We didn't even need to tidy away, just pack the sweet cart up.
